Winona Ryder is the well-known professional brand name of Winona Laura Hoowitz, born within Winona Minnesota. She was named by her parents after the town in which they were born. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's dad was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder is the youngest sister of Uria and also has half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder relocated with her family members to Mendocino County California at the age of seven.
